![]() It's that same sense of community that I'm relying on in these current times of universal struggle, and yet the same sense that without music as a binding agent we may all lose sight of. With so many talented folks around this city it is easy to forget that it was a struggling industry for many even prior to the current pandemic.Īll in all, I think this is the album I'm most proud of so far in my career, that joy only bolstered by the sense of community around it. My bestie Alister Turrill came for the drive up to the studio and practiced a couple of songs on the way, which we ended up recording, including 7,000, but it was just nice to have time away with the furry man, irregardless of task or distance.īohdan Dower provided the mastering which was mostly a choice based on his skill and keen ear, yet had the very important angle that I wanted to list a Bendigonian on the CD as having done the mastering. ![]() John Hobbs provided the amazing illustration for the cover art, hand drawn, and most graciously of all, turned down all forms of payment be they physical, theological or otherwise (I've promised to pay him a kings ransom on the next job). I was lucky enough to get Bill Chambers in on the day of recording, who with consummate ease laid down the slide riffs you'll hear on track 1 and 3. I worked on this album with Kasey Chambers and Brandon Dodd at their Rabbit Hole Studios, after going gallivanting around Australia with Kasey for her Campfire tour. And to help me deal with potential months without gigs or any form of cash I thought I best try and prepare by offering you all my pride and joy even before it is appropriately swaddled and cooed at home. Needless to say, much of my work and livelihood has been indefinitely postponed, much in the same way that we are all still waiting on the Community movie (6 seasons and a movie) and potentially for the same reason (people don't want to get sick). What a strange and trying time we live in, from paranoia in the streets to isolation in the bedsheets, and not to forget all the annoying commentary courtesy of idiots like the author of this post. Now the formalities are out of the way I would be remiss if I didn't go on to say "hello".
